Coronary Angioplasty
This follows after a coronary angiogram when significant coronary artery disease is detected and requires treatment. Angioplasty is a procedure used to treat a narrowed coronary artery under local anaesthetic.
What to Expect
A catheter is introduced through either the femoral artery in the leg or the radial artery at the wrist. Commonly, a balloon is used to open up the narrowed portion of the artery after which a specially designed metal tube of stent is implanted to help keep the artery open.
